The new world famous Volkswagen Type 2 is manufactured by VW and is powered by a fuel injected, water-cooled cooled modern engine. This is fitted with electronic ignition and a catalytic converter exhaust system. The result of this modern technology is that your engine will always run beautifully no matter the weather conditions. Front servo assisted disc brakes and rear drum brakes are now also standard. The new VW ‘Total Flex’ engine can also run on either bio fuel or unleaded petrol so emmissions and running costs are kept low. The vehicle also benefits from cheaper road tax! So you can be eco green and cool all at the same time!

The Danbury T2 conversions includes:-

RIO Interior design: Full length kitchen unit furniture on near side enabling you to walk through to the rear of the vehicle between the front seats. DIAMOND Interior design: Furniture placed on the near side centre of vehicle enabling you to walk through to the rear of the vehicle between the front seats. The kitchen unit incorporates :- sealed and vented single cylinder dedicated gas locker, stainless steel hob and grill with matching stainless steel sink and electric pumped cold water from a removable on-board container. Removable 12 volt electric cool box ( ‘Amigo’ and ‘Picknicker’ models ( a fitted optional 40 Litre fridge / freezer is also available and is standard on all ‘Classic’ and ‘SE’ models). Waste is collected via an external remote socket. Removable free-standing centre mounted table with detachable leg. Rear metal framed rock and roll rear seat that cleverly converts to a flat ample double or king size bed in one simple operation, complete with lap style rear seat belts (optional rear 3 or 4 point seat belts are available). Lighting via two florescent strip lights mounted on the near side and off side. Plus chrome swivel ball reading lights mounted at the rear. A rear near side mounted wardrobe with ample hanging space is also standard on all ‘RIO’ design interiors. The optional elevating roof gives an internal roof height of 2000 mm (roof raised) and can accommodate two people in the optional double roof bed. The roof canvas is 100% fully water proof and there is an optional rear mounted sunroof for extra ventilation. An independent blown air petrol heating system which provides ample warmth when motoring (a new experience for owners of the old Type 2 camper!) is available as an option and is also a camping heater when stationery. Another welcome addition is the new Golf style front seats which offer unsurpassed comfort on long trips (again a new experience for owners of the old Type 2 !) To enable you to personalise your Danbury Type 2 you have the following choices:-

Furniture:
Kitchen units are finished in marine grade, moisture resistant traditional light wood finish (‘Amigo’ models are finished in light grey). Black rolled-edged work tops are also fitted as standard.

Upholstery:
Front and rear seats come as standard in ‘wipe clean’ grey vinyl on all ‘Amigo’ or ‘Picknicker’ specification vehicles (optional cloth or leather is available) or Danbury modern hard wearing fabric is standard on all ‘Classic’ specification vehicles (optional leather) or the choice of a large range of standard leather interior finishes to suit all tastes are standard on all ‘SE’ specification vehicles. Silver screens are supplied for the front of the car and quality lined curtains are also fitted to the sides and rear (‘Amigo’ models have silver screens for all windows instead of curtains).

Flooring:
Wood effect vinyl flooring is fitted as standard on all models except ‘Amigo’. Customers ordering the optional middle row bench seat have the option to have this mounted either forward or rear facing (‘Amigo’ model only front facing).

The Danbury Rio Interior

The Rio features full-length kitchen unit furniture on nearside incorporating a vented gas locker, stainless steel hob and grill with matching sink, and electric pumped cold water. The metalframed ‘rock n roll rear seat (with storage underneath) cleverly converts into an ample double bed in one simple operation and you’re able to seat six people with seat belts using the optional middle row removable bench seat. You can walk through from cab area to rear of the vehicle between the front seats and seat four people around a table whencamping (with optional buddy seat).

The Danbury Diamond Interior

The Diamond rear bed is, in fact, the same size as a domestic king-size bed! The Diamond has full access from the front cab seats to the rear, even when the bed is being used! It can also seat five people with seatbelts as standard (or seven people with the optional middle removable bench seat).

The split, well-equipped kitchen unit is mounted a third back along the nearside allowing you to walk through from the front cab area to the rear of the vehicle.

All cars produced are built to current VW Quality. Whats the difference between the ‘Danbury Diamond’ and the ‘Danbury Rio’ camper models? The only difference is the internal design. The ‘Diamond’ model has a king size bed with a full width rear seat. This model seats 5 as standard and 7 with the optional removable middle row bench seat instead of the storage cabinet by the sliding door. The ‘Rio’ model has all the furniture to one side of the vehicle and hence has a 3/4 width rear seat that converts to a double bed. The ‘Rio’ model seats 4 as standard or 6 with the optional removable middle row bench seat. All models are available left or right hand drive and front, middle and rear seat belts are standard fit. What exterior and interior colours are standard? Exterior: White paint finish all over is standard on all ‘Amigo’ or ‘Picknicker’ specification vehicles. You then have the option of a lower half respray (standard on all ‘Classic’ and ‘SE’ models) or a total all over respray. You can choose any colour from our range of over 500 colours for resprays! Interior: All ‘Amigo’ and ‘Picknicker’ models come with grey wipe clean vinyl seating as standard. Optional cloth or leather is available and samples can be seen on the web site. ‘Classic’ specification vehicles have a choice of a large range of cloth seats (optional leather) or ‘SE’ models have high quality leather seats as standard. A vast choice of colours and design are available! What type of roof is standard? The factory metal ‘low top’ roof is standard with the optional raising roof as an option on ALL models. This roof is a great option to choose and means you can then STAND inside the vehicle and you also have a seperate option of having roof beds fitted if required! Great for sleeping kids or adults! There is no heavy lifting required for the optional raising roof as it lifts using gas powered struts and has heavy duty canvass sides so you can use all year round whatever the weather! A smaller ‘canvas cab bunk’ is also available for younger children or extra storage. This fits over the front cab seats when parked. What equipment comes with a Danbury camper model? As standard fit for all models (except the base ‘Amigo’ model) both the ‘Diamond’ and ‘Rio’ model VW campers you get: Cooker with large grill, rear seat / rock ‘n’ roll bed, 2 x rear spot lights, 2 x middle strip lights, removable rear table, sink with electric tap, opening middle windows x 2, vinyl floor covering ( optional if having middle row bench seat option ) , ‘beech’ colour storage cupboards / furniture with black work tops, front recoil seat belts and rear seat lap belts. A vast range of various options are also available! What does lowered suspension offer me? Having the optional lowered suspension (as the standard steel wheels are too large to fit under the wheel arches with this option: This option is only available with any of our alloy wheel options) will make the vehicle nicer to drive with better road handling and cornering! This option looks great but its purpose is to make the vehicle handle better, especially on motorways and windy days, the fact that it looks good too is an extra bonus! You will still have great ground clearance and this option is NOT a ‘boy racer’ dragging along the ground with no clearance option!
